The project being implemented with an estimated cost of Rs.7 crore is expected to save Rs.10 lakh per month on power bill.

Government of Andhra Pradesh in coordination with a team of doctors from United Kingdom (UK) is planning to set up paediatric cardiology surgery hospitals in three major cities of Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati in the state.

After bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh has lost its healthcare infrastructure to Telangana, therefore the main objective of setting up the paediatric cardiology surgery hospitals is to build and improve its own healthcare infrastructure which will enable it to improve its healthcare indicators like infant mortality rate (IMR) and mother mortality rates (MMR).

In view of this, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu, met with a team of doctors from UK which include Dr. Phil Knight, Dr. Zoha Mohamed, Nina Hall, Dr. Phil Arnold, Fiona Wood, Maria-N-Tala, Guido Oppido, Dr. Vikram Kudumula, Dr. Ramana Dhannapuneni, and Dr. Sanjiv Nichani. Stressing the need for adequate medical services for infants and children in the state, the chief minister, sought their full cooperation to improve the healthcare statistics of Andhra Pradesh.

According to team of doctors from UK, a study has revealed that there is growing proportion of children in Andhra Pradesh who are suffering from cardiovascular problems. “We have international expertise in performing surgeries for paediatric and cardiovascular problems. We want to offer free services in India,” informed the members of visiting delegation.

Already, the UK based team of doctors has begun operations in the state by partnering with a trust run by actress Samantha. In this regard, they have evinced interest in expanding their services to other parts of the state.
