Shikhar Dhawan is not known to show his emotions on the cricket field and comes across as a person with a cool head. But on his 30th birthday in the morning session of day three of the fourth Test, the Indian opener lost his cool.
Dhawan batted well along with Cheteshwar Pujara to steady things for India after Morne Morkel removed Murali Vijay and Rohit Sharma early in the first session. But in the 23rd over, Dhawan looked miffed after getting hit on the forearm.
Immediately Dhawan signalled the substitute fielders to come out with the spray and arm guard, however, it KL Rahul and Gurkeerat Mann took some time. Finally when they showed up, Dhawan unleashed verbal attack on both the youngsters.

Even Rahul offered a banana as a peace offering but Dhawan declined to accept it. However, before getting back to the crease he tapped on Rahul's shoulder. Hopefully, at the lunch break Dhawan and Rahul would have cleared the air.
Following the on-field incident, Team Director Ravi Shastri also looked furious and was saying something to the players in the pavilion. All these happened during the 1st session of play on Saturday (December 5) when birthday boy Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara were batting in the 2nd innings. Between the overs, Dhawan asked for something from the dressing room and in came the reserve player Rahul. Gurkeerat Singh Mann joined in later with the physio.
Unhappy with something, Dhawan gestured towards the pavilion and also said few words to Rahul, the right-handed opener from Karnataka. Dhawan seemed to have been upset with the late arrival of Rahul and others. Rahul was carrying a water bottle when Dhawan wanted something else. This happened after the 24th over of the innings. Later, Rahul offered a banana to Dhawan but the batsman refused to take it.
We hope things would have been settled when Dhawan returned to the dressing room during the lunch break.

Virat Kohli, Indian Test captain, Shikhar Dhawan and Ishant Sharma will play under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir for Delhi in the North Zone leg of the Vijay Hazare trophy, between December 10 and 18.
"We had announced Gautam as the captain for the whole season as the international players were not supposed to be available. I don't think one should make a big issue if Virat plays under Gautam," Vinay Lamba, selection committee chairman told PTI, when asked why Kohli wasn't getting to lead the side.
India have made three of their national side players available for the domestic tournament, given that the India-Pakistan series in December is unlikely to go ahead. If the bilateral series goes ahead, Delhi have also named three stand-by players - Dhruv Shorey, Vaibhav Rawal, Vikas Tokas.
Squad: Gautam Gambhir (captain), Unmukt Chand, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Nitish Rana, Milind Kumar, Manan Sharma, Pawan Negi, Ashish Nehra, Pradeep Sangwan, Ishant Sharma, Navdeep Saini, Subodh Bhati, Shivam Sharma, Rahul Yadav (wk).
